PP accuses Tarcísio of ‘lack of attention’ and threatens to launch a candidate for the government of SP

The Progressive Party (PP) has been publicly accusing the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), for an alleged lack of support for Guilherme Derrite’s (PP-SP) candidacy for the Senate and for “communication difficulties and lack of attention to parliamentarians” from the party. Amid this dissatisfaction, the party threatens to launch its own candidacy for the São Paulo government, even though Tarcísio has already placed himself as a candidate for re-election to the position.

In a note released this Saturday (27), the PP state directory states that there is a “growing dissatisfaction among party mayors” with the state administration, and is already mentioning possible names that would be internally evaluated as possible candidates for the party.

One of them is Filipe Sabará, who was once secretary in the municipal and state administrations of João Doria and is currently helping Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) in his approach to businesspeople from Faria Lima. Another name put forward by the PP is federal deputy Ricardo Salles, who is currently in Novo. Today, the PP has 54 mayors in the state of São Paulo.

“There are recurring complaints about the lack of attention to parliamentarians, communication difficulties and a perception of distance between members of the current state government and the Progressistas party leadership, both at national and state level”, says the note. “With Flávio Bolsonaro’s pre-candidacy for the presidency of the Republic, the party also began to consider it strategic to have, at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, a governor more aligned with the party’s national project. The internal assessment is that this alignment would facilitate the assembly and support of the list of candidates for federal and state deputy in São Paulo, one of the main electoral colleges in the country.”

Derrite was São Paulo’s Public Security Secretary until November, when he left the position to return to the Chamber of Deputies to report on the Public Security PEC and to focus on his 2026 electoral project. When he entered the government, Derrite was a member of the PL, but this year he changed his acronym to the PP.
