Rio City Hall will fine ultralight company that crashed in Copacabana

The city of Rio de Janeiro announced this Saturday (27), through the Secretariat of Public Order (SEOP), that it will fine the company Visual Propaganda Aérea, responsible for the ultralight plane that crashed in the early afternoon in Copacabana, for irregular advertising.

In a note to CNN BrazilSEOP reported that Visual Propaganda Aérea is authorized to carry out advertising, however, it was not authorized to carry out the advertising campaign for the ultralight that crashed.

“SEOP emphasizes that it promotes periodic inspections of all economic activities in Rio de Janeiro to prevent this type of infraction from occurring”, says the note. THE CNN Brazil tries to locate the representatives of the company Visual Propaganda Aérea. The space remains open.

According to information from the Fire Department, the aircraft took off from Jacarepaguá Airport and was manned only by the pilot. At around 12pm this Saturday (27), the ultralight crashed into the sea of ​​Copacabana, near Posto 3.

According to firefighters, at around 3pm, a body was located by rescue teams and sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) for identification of the victim.

According to a publication by the deputy mayor of the South Zone of Rio, Bernardo Rubião, the body found by firefighters was that of the pilot. In the video published on a social network, Rubião said that according to the company, this was the pilot’s first flight in this type of aircraft.

Around 30 soldiers worked on the search, which included the use of helicopters, jet skis, inflatable boats and a diving team. Sonar, equipment that captures images of the seabed, was also used to locate wreckage and possible victims.

The FAB (Brazilian Air Force), through CENIPA (Center for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents), reported that investigators from SERIPA III (Third Regional Service for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents) — CENIPA’s regional body, based in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) — were called and are carrying out the Initial Action of the incident involving the aircraft registered PT-AGB.

According to the aircraft’s registration with Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency), the ultralight was in regular airworthiness condition.
