Russia continued its attacks on Ukraine on Sunday night, less than a day after a large-scale attack on Kiev. Ukraine’s air defense says Russian forces sent 48 drones, 30 of which were destroyed. Kharkiv police report three injured. TASR informs about this according to the report of the Sky News station and the contribution of the Ukrainian air defense on the Telegram platform.
Air defense said 18 drone strikes were reported in nine locations. Fires broke out in the city of Kharkiv as a result of the strikes, and according to the local police, three people were injured. According to the police, they are documenting the “consequences of war crimes” by Russia. Russia also carried out drone attacks in the Odesa region, from where, according to the British station, no victims have been reported so far.
The attacks came after Russia launched a large-scale attack on the Ukrainian capital of Kiev in the early hours of Saturday morning. At least one person was killed and more than 25 people were injured in the attack. More than 500,000 people were left without electricity and a third of the city was also without heating.
Russia regularly attacks the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, which its troops invaded in February 2022. People in Ukraine are already exposed to the fourth winter of war, while temperatures in this territory during the winter season can drop to minus 20 degrees Celsius.
Russia launched these latest attacks ahead of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s planned meeting with his US counterpart Donald Trump in Florida on Sunday. The pair will discuss ending the almost four-year-old war in Ukraine.
