The tragic death of Petr Fiala
The official version of the police states that on December 26, an accident involving a black Mazda 626 occurred near Oslan in the Prievidza district. The singer Peter Fiala of the three-member crew died in the accident, while Lenka S. and Branislav Z. suffered only minor injuries. According to the police, the car was driven by Branislav Z., who was charged with bodily harm resulting in death. During the breath test, he was measured at 1.4 per thousand of alcohol.
According to information from the portal, police officers discovered a crashed car in a ditch. The Mazda drove at high speed past the police officers who were controlling traffic in Oslany, but the vehicle was not directly pursued. The driver of the car who was supposed to die in the accident was later acquitted. “I always claimed that I wasn’t driving. The eight years that I was considered guilty were very difficult, I don’t wish it on anyone,” he said after the verdict was announced.
The autopsy report states that the cause of the singer’s death was a fracture of the base of the skull. However, the family believes that the policemen who were trying to chase the car are behind the tragedy. According to their claim, the driver did not respond to the officers’ calls to stop, which led to the chase.
