Social Security now offers a new way to check the existence of contributory debts without the need to wait for paper notifications or communications by registered letter. Through the official mobile application, taxpayers can now obtain the Declaration of Contribution Status immediately and digitally.
The measure was announced in a statement by the Social Security Institute (ISS) and is part of a strategy to reinforce citizens’ autonomy in managing their contribution processes, allowing confirmation of the regularity of the situation before Social Security at any time.

According to the Notícias ao Minuto portal, the Declaration of Contribution Status can, from now on, be obtained directly from the Social Security App, with the same validity and security as the document issued through the Social Security Portal. ISS emphasizes that the inclusion of this service in the mobile application offers “total autonomy in the palm of your hand”, allowing for more efficient and immediate management of matters related to contributions.
Using the application allows immediate access to the declaration, available 24 hours a day, regardless of where the user is, eliminating waiting times associated with in-person requests or postal communications.
The publication adds that the documents issued by the App are guaranteed to be authentic and are valid for presentation to any entity, maintaining the same legal value as statements obtained through other official channels.
How to obtain the declaration on your cell phone
The process for downloading the Declaration of Contribution Status is simple and can be completed in just a few steps. The user must access the Social Security App, select the “Declarations” option in the main menu and choose the desired document.
According to the same source, the declaration is generated immediately, allowing direct download onto the mobile device. For those who do not yet have the application installed, it is available free of charge in the App Store, Google Play and AppGallery digital stores.
What is the Contribution Status Declaration for?
According to , the declaration proves that the taxpayer has no debts to Social Security or, if any, that they are in the process of being regularized with the competent entity.
The document is intended for employers, self-employed workers or their legal representatives, as well as citizens covered by other social protection systems, creditors or the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and is valid for four months after issuance.
