Edilberto Afonso de Moraes, known as Betão, one of the best-known names in livestock farming in Acre, died this Sunday (28), in Rio Branco. Born in the capital, he built his own path through working in the field, starting as a farmhand and cattle dealer until consolidating himself as a reference rural producer in the state.

Betão’s death generated expressions of grief, including that of senator Márcio Bittar, who published an old video and a text in tribute to his friend. In the recording, the parliamentarian recalls moments of coexistence and uses a relaxed tone to describe Betão’s personal characteristics.
“Make no mistake, this is the greatest businessman I know in my life, the guy who can think about business, do business,” said Bittar in the video.
In the written message that accompanied the publication, the senator highlighted the coexistence with rural producers. “Today, a memory of immense longing and gratitude. I found this video and remembered the great and relaxed moments that I had the honor of sharing with my friend Betão”, he wrote. “This simplicity that the video shows was its essence,” he added.
Bittar also highlighted the trajectory of Betão in Acre. “A man who was a pioneer, a unique and fundamental figure in the history of our Acre, but who never lost his humility and joy in living,” he stated. “I am very grateful for the opportunity to have lived with this incredible human being, to learn from his wisdom and to be able to call him a friend”, he added.
Recognized for its discreet profile, Betão had continuous involvement in the agricultural sector, generating jobs and investments over decades in Acre. Married, father and grandfather, he maintained a strong bond with his family and the land, especially with Fazenda Piracema, where he began his history in the countryside and which became a reference in his career.
