Bolsonaro undergoes a new medical procedure this Monday; understand

Former president Jair Bolsonaro will undergo a new medical procedure this Monday, 29th. He is admitted to the Hopistal DF Star in the federal capital, where he already had surgery at Christmas.

Sentenced to 27 years and three months in prison, Bolsonaro was detained in a special cell at the Federal Police Superintendence in Brasília. After medical examination, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court, authorized hospitalization for surgery.

The former president underwent a new procedure, on Saturday, 27, to treat the hiccups, two days after undergoing surgery at the DF Star Hospital, in Brasília. The former president’s doctors reported that the procedure was necessary because Bolsonaro had faced a severe bout of hiccups on Friday night, which caused difficulty sleeping.

A medical bulletin released on Sunday, 28, informed that a new procedure would be carried out this Monday. “Last night, he developed a new bout of hiccups, despite the procedure carried out, as well as an increase in blood pressure. At the moment, he is stable and has no hiccups,” the bulletin said.

What is bilateral inguinal hernia and what surgery is like

A hernia occurs when there is a looseness or opening in the abdominal/pelvic wall that allows loops of intestine or other tissues to leak through this opening. The condition leads to the formation of a lump and can cause pain and discomfort, especially during physical exertion.

When this extravasation occurs in the groin region, the hernia is called inguinal. It is considered bilateral when it affects the right and left groin simultaneously.

The surgery, as doctor Paulo Barros, digestive system surgeon at the Specialized Center for Digestive System at Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz, previously pointed out to Estadão, consists of pushing the contents of the belly inside and placing a polypropylene mesh (a type of plastic) in the affected area. This mesh contains the abdominal wall, closing this “hole”.
