A police chase marked last Sunday morning on the A1, in Vila Nova de Gaia, after the PSP intercepted a van that was reported stolen. The operation took place at the exit to Eduardo Santos Silva Hospital and involved several police vehicles.
According to authorities, the driver of the van initially fled the area of the Pinheiro Torres neighborhood, in Pasteleira, ending up colliding with two patrol cars during his escape attempt. The chase continued to the motorway, towards Porto-Lisbon, where the vehicle ended up being cornered in the middle of the road.
Images shared on social media show the moment when several PSP cars surround the van, preventing any further escape attempts. The suspect was arrested by the Rapid Intervention Team of the 2nd Division and taken to the Aldoar PSP police station.
