First US strike on Venezuelan territory: President Trump announced the destruction of an alleged smuggling dock

US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the United States had struck and destroyed a dock in Venezuela that was allegedly used as a drug loading dock for smugglers’ ships. TASR informs about it according to the reports of Reuters and AFP and The Guardian newspaper.

“There was a big explosion in the dock area where they load the drug ships. We hit all the ships and now we hit the area and it’s gone.” Trump declared at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida shortly after welcoming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“It was by the coast,” added the US president without specifying the exact location. It was not immediately clear which US agency was behind the attack. When asked if it was the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Trump said he did not want to answer. “I know exactly who it was, but I don’t want to say,” the US president added.

The head of the White House responded to press questions about his interview with the WABC radio station last week. In it, he said that the United States had “decommissioned” a facility in Venezuela where the smuggling boats allegedly come from.

“They have a big plant or a big facility where those ships come from. We took it out two days ago. We hit them hard.” Trump said in an interview with WABC radio host John Catsimatidis. The American president made this statement during a discussion about the actions of the United States against Venezuela and its president Nicolás Maduro.
