The President of the United States showed himself “outraged” by the attack on one of Vladimir Putin’s residenceswhich he described as a “reckless” action by Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin warned his North American counterpart, Donald Trump, during a telephone call this Monday that against one of their residences could disrupt peace negotiations with Ukraine.
According to the spokeswoman for the White House (North American presidency), Karoline Leavitt, it was second phone call between the two leaders in 24 hoursafter a first conversation considered “good and very productive” and held before the meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, which took place on Sunday in Florida.
The Kremlin (Russian presidency) reported that, during the telephone call, Putin warned Trump of his intention to review some previous understandingswhile the US leader was “outraged” by the attackwhich he described as a “reckless” action by Kiev.
Meeting between Trump and Zelensky
Trump received Zelensky on Sundayduring the Christmas holidays in Florida, to discuss the new version of the North American plan to end the conflict, now reformulated into 20 points after talks with Kiev.
After more than three hours of meetings, both said have solved “more than 95%” of the documentalthough disagreements persist over the future of Donbass (eastern Ukraine) and a possible ceasefire.
The evolution of the conversations was, however, conditioned by a attack with ‘drones’ which, according to Moscow, targeted one of Putin’s residences the night before.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the incident will lead Russia to “reconsider” negotiating positions already reached.
