The dialogue continues: According to the White House, Trump’s phone call with Putin was positive

US President Donald Trump had a “positive” phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday. White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavittová announced via the X social network. TASR informs about it according to the reports of AFP and TASS agencies and The Guardian newspaper.

President Trump ends positive call with President Putin on Ukraine,” Leavittová wrote on the network without providing further details. The leaders also spoke to each other on Sunday before Trump’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.

Leavitt published the post shortly after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused Ukraine of a drone attack on Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region. According to him, Moscow will react to this attack, while also reassessing its position in the peace negotiations, from which it will not withdraw.

Zelensky called Moscow’s accusation of an attack on Putin’s residence “another lie.” According to him, Russia is thus preparing the ground for attacks on the buildings of the Ukrainian government in Kyiv. He also told reporters that Moscow is trying to undermine the progress made in the Ukrainian-American peace plan talks with such statements. At the same time, Zelensky called on Trump to respond adequately to Russian threats.

An adviser to the Russian president, Yuri Ushakov, later said that Trump and Putin had agreed to continue the dialogue. According to him, Trump informed Putin about the progress of Sunday’s negotiations with Zelensky, and Putin informed the head of the White House about the alleged Ukrainian drone attacks on his residence. The US president was reportedly “shocked” by the news.
