Especially in northern and central Slovakia, warnings of the first degree against wind in the mountains apply in places. In some districts of the Žilina, Banskobystrické and Prešovské regions, the wind at higher altitudes can reach a gust of up to 135 kilometers per hour. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) informs about this on the website.
Windstorm warnings are valid until 1:00 p.m. in most of the Žilina region, as well as in the districts of Poprad, Banská Bystrica and Brezno. “The predicted wind speed is normal for the time of year and area, but poses a potential hazard to human activities,” pointed out SHMÚ.
