The soap opera between Filipe Luís and Flamengo continues to gain new chapters. According to journalist Mauro Cezar, contract renewal is unlikely. The deadline given by President Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap, for negotiations to come to an end was this Sunday (28/12), but the parties have not yet reached an agreement.
What is the impasse between Flamengo and Filipe Luís?
According to a publication by “Uol”, Flamengo claimed that it had already reached its maximum and that Filipe Luís did not reduce any amount from the initial request of 5 million euros. The red and black board shows no signs of increasing the offer.
The value would be the main point in question in the negotiation, as the club claims that it has already reached the ceiling and will not increase the offer. The issue of assistants’ salaries would be a minor problem.
The coach even stated that he would ask for a lower amount, but decided that his initial request was fair. He wishes to receive his salaries individually, separately from the coaching staff.
Filipe Luís’ contract with Flamengo only runs until December 31st.

Flamengo’s options for technical command
The red-black board is working with three options to replace Filipe Luís if necessary: the Portuguese Leonardo Jardim and Artur Jorge and the Italian-Brazilian Thiago Motta.
Jardim and Motta are free on the market. However, the former Cruzeiro coach asked Raposa to resign and stated that he has no interest in returning to football at the moment.
Journalist Rudy Galetti stated that Flamengo has a verbal agreement with Artur Jorge. Currently, the coach leads Al-Rayyan, from Qatar. The Portuguese coach would have made himself available to take over Fla if necessary.
In 2024, the Portuguese coach won the Libertadores da América and the Brasileirão with Botafogo. However, after that, the commander left the club.
In two seasons in Qatar, the 53-year-old coach took charge of 35 matches and achieved 21 victories. Currently, Al-Rayyan is third in the local league.
