It is the worst result for the month since the beginning of the historical series that started in 2020; market expectation was 84,000 vacancies
Brazil created 85.864 jobs with a formal contract in November 2025, according to preliminary data from Caged (General Register of Employed and Unemployed) released by the MTE (Ministry of Labor and Employment) this Tuesday (Dec 30, 2025). Here is it (PDF – 1 MB)
The balance was slightly above market expectations. The median of the experts interviewed by the Poder360 estimated the creation of around 84,000 jobs in the month.
October ended with 93.699 vacancies (data with adjustments). The November result represents a variation of -8,4% in relation to October and also 19.1% lower than recorded in November 2024, when the country created 106.133 vacancies.
Stock and accumulated
With the November result, the stock of formal jobs in the country reaches 49 million of CLT ties, according to the ministry.
In the accumulated period from January to November 2025, the country created 1.89 million jobs with a formal contract, the lowest number since 2023 for the period.
The number is lower than that recorded in the same period in 2024, when the balance was 2.23 million vacancies, representing a drop in 15,1%.
By sector
Among the 5 major segments of the economy, only 2 recorded a positive balance:
- business: 249 jobs (0.7%);
- services: 131 jobs (0.3%);
- industry: -27,135 jobs (-0.2%);
- construction: -23,804 jobs (-0.7%);
- agriculture: -16,566 jobs (-0.8%).
By State
In the month, 20 of the 27 Federative Units registered a positive balance of formal vacancies, with emphasis on:
- São Paulo: 104 jobs;
- Rio de Janeiro: 961 jobs;
- Pernambuco: 996 jobs.
The states with the lowest balances were:
- Minas Gerais: -8,740 jobs;
- Goiás: -8,413 jobs;
- Mato Grosso: -5,802 jobs.
