Luke Littler addressed the fervent fans directly, still on the stage of the duel with Rob Cross. Charlie Manby won.
The last game this Monday, at darts world cupput two world champions on stage: the current Luke Littler and the champion in 2018, Rob Cross.
As expected, the 18-year-old won. ‘The Nuke’ – Luke’s pun on “nuclear bomb” – got the better of Cross by 4-2, in the most complicated game so far in the tournament.
And what happened during this round of 16 game? The world champion was booed. Whistle by fans present at Alexandra Palace, in London.
Even during the game, the young Englishman was interacting with some fans, especially Germans, apparently – and Germany no longer has any representatives at the World Cup.
After the game, and still on stage, Luke Littler went for his usual interview with Sky Sports: “It doesn’t bother me. Seriously, it doesn’t bother me. It doesn’t bother me,” he repeated.
And he even let out a laugh, saying: “You pay for the tickets and pay my prize in cash. Thanks for my money. Thanks for whistling me”.

“The environment was hostile, nobody wanted me to win. They were mistaken,” commented Littler, who continues his journey towards revalidating the title.
“It was the first time at the World Cup that the fans didn’t want me to win. But that’s okay. I will prepare for the worst in the quarter-finals”, he commented later.
The next opponent will be the Polish Krzysztof Ratajski.
It should be noted that, hours before, the famous bricklayer won again (4-2 against Ricky Evans) and will be in the round of 16, against the Dutch Gian van Veen.
