Trains stopped between London and Paris at one of the busiest times of the year. Car transport service was also affected
Eurostar announced the cancellation of all its rail services scheduled for this Tuesday on the connection to and from London through the Channel Tunnel.
According to Reuters, the announcement comes after a problem in the energy supply network of the tunnel that connects England to France.
A disruption that comes at one of the busiest times of the year, with several people making trips to both sides because of the festivities. The company has already indicated that there will hardly be any trains this Tuesday, but hopes to be able to resume connections in time for people to spend the year where they wanted.
The Eurostar spokesperson cited by the Reuters agency did not indicate when services could be resumed, having refused to disclose how many passengers could be affected.
For now, official information on the company’s website tells passengers that they can expect serious delays in services.
“Due to a problem with the power supply in the Eurotunnel and a subsequent failure on the Le Shuttle train, we strongly advise all passengers to postpone their journey to a future date”, adds the note.
Taking into account that the problem is also affecting the Le Shuttle service – a train from this service was even stuck in the middle of the tunnel, having already been safely removed with all passengers -, which connects the various cars trying to cross the English Channel, all traffic is at a standstill. Several images have already emerged from the English media of people stuck in traffic, as the cars have nowhere to go.

The situation is particularly complicated in Folkerstone, where the various cars wanting to get to Calais, in France, embark.

The company that manages the English railway network has also confirmed the existence of a problem, even admitting the cancellation of several connections. “Check before traveling as the connection may be affected,” says National Rail, which also advises passengers to postpone trips they have planned.
“Please do not come to the station unless you have a ticket to travel,” the statement added.
Connecting between the capitals of England and France, Eurostar is also responsible for trips to Brussels, Amsterdam or even Disneyland Paris.
In 2024 alone, 19.5 million passengers passed through there, according to the company, which had its best year ever.
