Did Ukraine really attack Putin's house? Russia's accusation could change everything in the negotiations

Donald Trump has already said that he was angry about an attack that Ukraine completely denies. But Moscow didn’t even want to wait and announced that some things will really change

Just hours after the President of the United States announced that we could be weeks away from resolving the war in Ukraine, Russia accused Kiev of a daring attack on one of Vladimir Putin’s residences.

An attack promptly denied by Ukraine, but which served for the Kremlin to promise a change in its negotiating position, even though Moscow has not specified exactly what this means.

And it doesn’t matter that even Donald Trump has already admitted that everything may be nothing more than a false flag operation on the part of Moscow, which could use an attack of this kind to justify a hardening of its position in the negotiations.

On the one hand, Russia guarantees that Vladimir Putin’s house in Novgorod, north of Moscow and next to the border with the European Union in the Baltic, was the target of a “terrorist attack using 91 drones”. These are the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the first to denounce the alleged operation.

On the other hand, the president of Ukraine and the country’s different authorities immediately assured that this had not happened, with Volodymyr Zelensky arguing that Russia’s real objective is to undermine the confidence of the United States, particularly after the meeting in Mar-a-Lago.

“They are going further. Now, with reports that their homes are being attacked, they are simply preparing for attacks on the capital and, probably, government buildings,” said the Ukrainian president.

Thus, Volodymyr Zelensky supports the theory that this is all a false flag operation to justify attacks against Kiev’s power. “That’s why we all have to be vigilant now, and I mean everyone”, reiterated the Ukrainian president.

In parallel with possible attacks that prove the president of Ukraine in favor, Russia may also be looking for more time to gain ground, especially as it is managing to advance, albeit slowly, on the front line.

Showing this is one of Vladimir Putin’s last requests to his Armed Forces. In a meeting that was partially broadcast, Russia’s president told the man who commands Russian troops that he wants to increase pressure to gain full control in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Now, at a time when it seems inevitable that Ukraine will cede all of Donbass, including the areas it still controls, the president of Russia is pushing to conquer territory beyond that, which could give him an even greater position of strength in the negotiations.

And this alleged attack on the Novgorod residence could even serve as a position of strength in these negotiations, especially because Vladimir Putin told Donald Trump, with whom he spoke on the phone again this Monday, that Moscow could review its position following this situation.

“It’s one thing to be on the attack. It’s another thing to attack his house. It’s not the right time to do it. And I realized that when I spoke to President Putin. I was very angry about this,” said Donald Trump, appearing to take the Russian side in the allegations of the attack, although admitting that everything may have been staged.

For Volodymyr Zelensky, Russia’s objective is clear: “Another round of lies. Of course we had a meeting with Trump and it is clear that, for the Russians, if there is no scandal between us and America, we are making progress.”

Ukraine is now preparing for possible reinforced attacks on its territory, particularly against important targets in the capital Kiev.
