The value of the social support index (IAS) for the year 2026 is 537,13 eurosaccording to an ordinance published today in .
This ordinance thus confirms the value of the IAS, which is calculated based on the average annual growth rate of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the last two years, ending in the 3rd quarter, as well as the average inflation of the last 12 months, excluding housing, referring to November.
The update rate, taking into account the formula defined in the law, is 2,80%, so the IAS rises from 522.50 euros to 537.13 euros.
The IAS serves as the basis for a large number of social benefits, particularly with regard to sickness benefit, unemployment benefit or social insertion income, as well as family benefit, access to study grants, or the solidarity supplement for the elderly, among others.
explains that the IAS is “the determining reference for establishing, calculating and updating support and other expenses and revenues of the central administration of the State, the Autonomous Regions and local authorities, whatever their nature, provided for in legislative or regulatory acts”.
This index is updated on January 1st of each year, through an ordinance published in the Official Gazette.
