“It’s not a farewell, it’s a new chapter”: more than 400 years later, Denmark will stop delivering letters – it is the first European country to do so

The decision reflects a profound change in Danes’ communication habits. Since the year 2000, the volume of letters has fallen by more than 90% in the country, while parcel sending continues to grow consistently. According to Postnord, the majority of messages now reach people through electronic mailboxes. To mark this moment, the company released a film in which the last letter addressed to the public is read by actress Ellen Hillingso.
