Police summon attackers and close tent where tourist couple were beaten

“We have already contacted the Porto de Galinhas Bar Association to ask, reinforce, demand and say: ‘whoever does not present, within 15 days, will be banned’. Some are already up to date, with registration. It will have to be handed over to the Tourism Department, as well as the registration of all waiters linked to that stall”, he said.

The case happened on Saturday (27). Images recorded by witnesses recorded the commotion on the tourist beach (see video above). In the midst of the confusion, it is possible to see tourists climbing into the back of a Municipal Guard vehicle. One of the videos also shows Jhonny with a bloody face.

In an interview with g1 on Sunday (28), Johnny said that he was attacked shortly after questioning the amount charged. Furthermore, the tourist said he saw signs of homophobia in the attack.

“Still going down near the stalls, a guy came and approached us wanting to offer his service. He offered the cost of the chairs for R$50 and said that, if we consumed his snacks, we wouldn’t pay the cost of the chairs and the stall. (…) It was around four o’clock in the afternoon when we asked for our bill. Then he said: ‘I saw that you didn’t consume the snack, so now I’m going to charge R$80 for the chair. you,’” he said.

The couple was taken by a team of lifeguards to the Porto de Galinhas Police Station. Johnny reported that he and his partner needed to seek medical attention before filing a police report due to injuries to his face and pain in his body.

The tourist also denounced in a video on Instagram the lack of infrastructure in Porto de Galinhas, as he had to make the entire journey, via app transport, between the police station and two health units, as one of them did not have a device for taking X-rays.
