Solidarity Supplement for the Elderly updated in February with retroactive payments

Holders of old-age and survivors’ pensions or equivalent pensions from any national or foreign social protection system, who legally reside in national territory and meet the conditions set out in law, are entitled to the supplement.

The update to the value of the Solidarity Supplement for the Elderly, which increases by 6.24% in 2026, will be made in February, retroactive to January, the Ministry of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security announced this Tuesday.

Holders of old-age and survivors’ pensions or equivalent pensions from any national or foreign social protection system, who legally reside in national territory and meet the conditions set out in law, are entitled to the supplement.

National citizens who do not meet the conditions for being awarded a social pension are also entitled to this supplement. for not meeting the means requirement and holders of a lifetime monthly subsidy.

The objective of the measure is to combat poverty among elderly people with lower incomes, with the granting and maintenance of the subsidy following criteria for determining the resources of applicants and benefit holders.

In the diploma published this Tuesday, the Government maintains the forecast of gradual increase in the CSI reference value to 870 euros in 2029.
