Hence, what was written in the erasure of 2025 will not necessarily be valid as predicted in the tomorrow of 2026. With that caveat in mind, let’s move on to what the new year might have in store for us.
The most talked about event refers to the expectation that the October election will be the last to be held to the rhythm of idolatries and rejections from the fans organized around (PT) and (PL).
Is it really? It depends. If Lula is re-elected and the heirs of his predecessor’s surname perform well, it will be another four years of the same conflict. But, in the unlikely event that the center manages to represent the majority that in polls says it rejects the protection of extreme camps, it could be different.
The formation of a Congress with mandates in the Chamber is also awaited due to those used as campaign resources. In the Senate, right and left announce plans for ideological domination.
Is it really? Again, it depends. If the debate is partly shifted from the presidential competition to the improvement of Parliament, the electorate may be encouraged to exercise prior quality control over congressmen.
Electoral forecasts include the idea that election will be the dominant issue shaping the candidates’ behavior and defining the votes. Once again, it is worth asking whether this is true. It depends. It will gain momentum if there is a rational and consistent debate, but it will tend to disappear if demagoguery takes over the environment.
These are choices that will determine whether 2026 will be a year of fertile ground for advancement or an unproductive large estate in tribute to backwardness.
