Heavy snowfall in the Czech Highlands caused accidents, including a crash that injured three people in Jihlava. The situation is still complicating traffic.

Intense snow in the Czech Highlands caused several accidents. During one of them, the driver in Jihlava skidded and crashed into a group of pedestrians, České noviny informs. The accident left three people injured.

The accident in the Pístov district happened before 4:00 p.m. Police spokeswoman Jana Kroutilová specified that two pedestrians were only slightly injured, while the third pedestrian suffered more serious injuries. They also performed a breath test on the driver, which was negative.

“The driver of a passenger car skidded and rammed into pedestrians who were walking on the sidewalk at the time, resulting in a collision. Three pedestrians were taken to the hospital, two of them suffered minor injuries. The third pedestrian suffered more serious injuries,” a spokeswoman for České Noviny said.

The snow is bothering the trucks

The snow caused several accidents and restrictions not only in Vysočina, but also in the rest of the country. As the firemen from Vysočina reported on their website, they intervened in Jihlava, for example, in the case of a bus accident or a car accident in Třebíč. Dispatchers of the regional road maintenance also drew attention to problems on the roads, where trucks also had problems due to the snow, especially in the hills. In the Highlands, three to eight centimeters of snow are expected until the evening, snow tongues can also form.

The snow also caused problems on the I/10 road from Tanvald to Harrachov in Jabloneck, which continues to Poland. Due to the heavy snow, road users closed it for all cars over 3.5 tons. In central Bohemia, the weather also limited buses. According to Prague Integrated Transport, some routes will be temporarily out of service and some stops have been cancelled, several connections are also delayed.
