Councilor Nabil Bonduki (PT) took legal action against the meeting of the Municipal Traffic and Transport Council next Friday (2) which will assess the city’s cost of R$ 5.30 from the 6th.
Nabil states that the council meeting takes place during the year-end recess, in a period in which the bodies do not have formal working hours, by decree. With the request made to the Court, the PT member hopes that the meeting will be postponed until at least mid-January.
“Holding the meeting is a necessary step for the city hall to institute the 30 cent increase –already announced– in the fare. However, for the Council’s action to be effective, there needs to be more time for public debate on the transport cost accounts and spreadsheets”, he says.
The increase was announced by the mayor of the capital of São Paulo, (), this Monday (29). The 6% adjustment is above the accumulated inflation in the period, of 3.9%, according to the IBGE’s IPCA (Consumer Price Index).
The new bus fare value will be forwarded to the City Council, following the legal procedure, according to the administration. At Friday’s council meeting, transportation system subsidies and operating costs are also expected to be evaluated.
