The state deputy of São Paulo Ediane Maria () and the pre-candidate for federal deputy Natalia Szermeta Boulos, wife of the minister (General Secretariat of the Presidency), sued the Federal Public Ministry against the radio for fake news that the federal government would tax the .
Ediane and Natalia ask for the revocation of the radio’s public concessions for alleged abuse of broadcasting freedom, in addition to investigating possible crimes of embezzlement and crimes against the national financial system.
The broadcaster released a statement on Monday (29) in which it admits that the information conveyed by Programa Pânico on December 2nd about .
“As of January 1st, it will not tax financial transactions with a value equal to or above R$5,000, contrary to what was broadcast by Jovem Pan’s Programa Pânico, on December 2nd. Videos with untrue information are circulating in groups on social media,” stated the company.
“Jovem Pan apologizes for the error and reaffirms its commitment to the correctness and veracity of the information conveyed in its programming.”
In the representation, Ediane and Natalia state that Jovem Pan repeats the dissemination of false news even after the November conviction, when the São Paulo Court ordered the payment of R$1.58 million in collective moral damages for and encouragement of undemocratic acts in the 2022 elections.
