Bratislava will say goodbye to the year 2025 in the city center on Wednesday. The farewell will be held in several places, namely Hlavní, Františkánský, Hviezdoslavov and Rybno námestí. Visitors can expect a music program lasting several hours, and the Christmas stalls will also have extended opening hours.
The program on Hviezdoslav Square will start at 7:30 p.m. “musical fireworks” in the form of a recording of the Opera Gala of the Slovak Philharmonic composed of famous opera arias and choruses under the baton of Petr Valentovič. The groups Vidiek and Polemic will also present themselves. The capital will welcome the New Year with a minor pyrotechnic effect and a Richard Strauss waltz.
The celebrations will not be in just one place. The stage at Františkánská námestí will enrich the farewell to the old year with another musical program. Several musical groups will take turns on it. There will also be a music DJ set in several places in the center, including Rybné námestie. Security will be overseen by reinforced city and state police patrols. At the same time, the fire brigade and the medical service will be ready on site.
City public transport will be reinforced during New Year’s Eve. Compared to normal night traffic, Dopravný podnik Bratislava (DPB) will deploy more than two dozen additional vehicles. Night lines from the Main Station and Hodžovo Square will have shorter intervals and will be served by articulated buses. Two tram lines, 3 and 9, will run continuously throughout the night. Line 9 will also be extended at night from Karlová Ves to Dúbravka.
For safer movement of visitors on Hviezdoslav Square, tram lines will also be selected from 8:50 p.m. in the historic center, drive through a diversion. Due to the closure of Jesenského and Mostová Streets, tram line 1 will have a modified circuit, trams of line 4 will run through the tunnel in the direction of Dúbravka.
On New Year’s Eve, the transport company will switch off ticket machines at exposed locations and secure them against damage. They will be launched again on January 1. During downtime, he recommends that passengers use the ecological purchase of TAPni tickets via mobile phone or payment card directly in the vehicle. This service is available in all DPB vehicles.
Košice will welcome the New Year with a musical party
The New Year’s program on the stage at the Immaculate in Košice will be in the spirit of Slovak and Italian revival music. As the city of Košice informs on its website, visitors can look forward to an original dance and music party on Hlavná Street associated with saying goodbye to the old and welcoming the new year.

“The entire proceeds from the 2025 Mayor’s Punch will go towards the purchase of materials and equipment and support for the payment of costs associated with the operation of the non-profit organization Social Housing, the patient organization League against Osteoporosis Slovakia – Osteoporosis Club in Košice, the non-profit organization Empatia plus and the civic association Hrdlička,” states the city.
As in previous years, there will be no fireworks on Hlavná Street this time either. Instead, a virtual replacement is prepared in the form of a light show, when images from previous fireworks will appear on the light screen.

The city of Partizánske has prepared a program on Náměstí SNP from 6:00 p.m., it will start with a disco, the mayor Jozef Božik will address those present, and at 7:10 p.m. there will be New Year’s Eve fireworks especially for families with children. The city does not pay from its own budget, the mayor, the city’s chief controller and several city deputies agreed, Božik pointed out. From 8:00 p.m. the disco will continue. They will welcome another year at Hurbanov Square and in Bojnice. From 10:00 p.m. the program will offer a New Year’s Eve video disco with DJ Dominik, as well as pre-midnight choreography performed by the Passion Dance Group or an outdoor KNAS art bar, the Cultural Center of Bojnice informed.
There will be a program for children and adults in Handlova.
