Gabi Zanotti is the Queen of America 2025; Find out how the vote turned out

Gabi Zanotti, Corinthians attacking midfielder, was chosen Queen of America 2025 in an award given by the Uruguayan newspaper “El País”. The Brazilian repeated her achievement from the previous year and made history as the first athlete to win the award consecutively.

The player, currently 40 years old, received 71 votes from participating journalists, surpassing established names in South American football. Marta came in second place, with 27 votes, while the young Paraguayan Claudia Martínez, aged 17, completed the podium with 19 votes.

During the season, Zanotti was one of Corinthians’ pillars in winning the Brazilian Championship and the women’s Copa Libertadores. Throughout 2025, he played 44 matches for the club and scored 19 goals. Also considering friendlies for the Brazilian team, he reached the mark of 20 goals in the year, six of which were decisive in the continental title campaign.

Hired by Corinthians in 2018, after a spell at Jiangsu Suning, in China, Zanotti further expanded her role in women’s football. In 2024, she had already been voted the best in America after winning the Brasileirao, the Supercopa and the Libertadores. In 2025, in addition to repeating the titles, he increased his voting advantage, jumping from 52 to 71 votes.

Among the players, Arrascaeta, Flamengo’s midfielder, was crowned King of America 2025. Among the coaches, Filipe Luís, also from Flamengo, won the election as best coach in the Americas in 2025.

The same journalists who voted for the King of America and the best coach in the Americas were the ones who elected the Queen of America. The three awards were on the same form, but voting for Queen of America was not mandatory. In total, 211 of the 264 participating journalists in general cast votes for the women’s award.
