The inflation rate for 2025 as a whole will have been 2.3%, according to INE’s quick estimate released this Wednesday, after being 2.4% in 2024.
The definitive inflation figures for December will be known on January 13th.
With regard to monthly values, December will have brought a stabilization of inflation at 2.2%, in year-on-year terms.
According to INE, the underlying inflation indicator, which excludes unprocessed food and energy products, “recorded a variation of 2.1%, a rate 0.1 percentage points (pp) higher than in the previous month”.
The index for energy products decreased to -2.4% in December, while the index for unprocessed food products registered a variation of 6%.
The Harmonized Consumer Price Index, which allows comparisons with other European countries, stood at 2.4%.
