Hundreds of scientific studies have been published since the Hauslabjoch man was discovered 34 years ago. Science knows more about Ötzi’s health than most people alive today: When the oldest known glacier mummy was still alive, she suffered from broken bones, intestinal parasites and soot-blackened lungs. Ötzi was tattooed and had a natural medicine kit with him to alleviate his suffering.
