A group of Palestinians traveled from Jerusalem and several villages in the West Bank and arrived in Italy on December 28 thanks to a program that initiated by the Jesuit priest Massimo Nevola.
In his greeting, the Pope mentioned, among other things, pilgrims from Palestine and “young people from the Holy Land, coming from the Latin Patriarchate in Jerusalem”. “The pilgrimages of the past year remind us that life is a journey,” said Leo XIV. in an address to the faithful in Saint Peter’s Square. The jubilee year of the Catholic Church, which brought millions of pilgrims to Rome, ended with Christmas.
The Palestinians were accompanied by the Palestinian priest Elias Tabban from a village near Janin and the priest from the city of Bajt Hanun Johnny Jallow. Two days ago, during visits to various places in Rome, young people had the opportunity to greet Italian President Sergio Mattarella in the Quirinal Palace.
