The so-called Pasaż Róży is one of the most beautiful Polish backyards. When we enter, we are transported to another, fairy-tale world. It is like the entrance to the Secret Garden or the vestibule of Narnia. All thanks to the unique glass mosaic found on . The author of the installation is Joanna Rajkowska, who, together with students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, decided to change this place into a unique, fairy-tale land full of mirrors. Pasaż Róży is a seemingly ordinary backyard, like many in Poland. However, the first steps into it indicate that things are different here. The glass mosaic gives a unique atmosphere and reflects sunlight, creating a magical atmosphere. On nights, when the moonlight shines, it is even more beautiful here.
An extraordinary design and a beautiful story
There is also a touching story behind this magical place. According to gazeta.pl, the project was created in 2014 as part of the Łódź of Four Cultures Festival. The author of the unique mosaic wanted to include something more than just the transformation of the tenement house. Her daughter, Róża, struggled with eye cancer, and the Róża Passage installation is intended to tell her story. The scattered pieces of glass are supposed to be an extraordinary metaphor and refer to the reconstruction of the retina after chemotherapy.
