The STF (Supreme Federal Court) prepared a special program to remember the three years since the coup acts of January 8, 2023, when the headquarters of the Three Powers were vandalized, in Brasília.
With the theme entitled “January 8th – A day not to forget”, the event was organized and should be opened by the President of the Court, Minister Edson Fachin.
The program also includes the screening of the documentary “Unshaken Democracy: Hands of Reconstruction”. A conversation circle with press professionals is also planned.
The event ends with a debate table in the STF’s Noble Hall, with the main theme of the program.
January 8, 2023 was one of the most striking episodes in Brazil’s recent political history, when the headquarters of the Three Powers in Brasília were invaded and vandalized by supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
At the Supreme Court, entire floors were devastated by vandals. The STF Plenary, which is on the ground floor, was completely destroyed; Windows were broken, statues were toppled, armchairs were torn away, furniture was torn to pieces.
Furthermore, works of art were vandalized, windows were sprayed with graffiti, and administrative rooms, which operate on the other floors of the headquarters building, had their facilities devastated.
