He French government has prepared a bill that will be presented at the beginning of January to prohibit social networks for those under 15 years of age as well as the use of mobile phones in high schools, according to France Info.
The bill will only have two articles to apply these prohibitions and in the case of the second the Executive will present it to the education personnel unions on January 7, before submitting it the next day to the Council of State, which must carry out a legality control, indicates the radio station.
The Executive’s intention is for it to be processed quickly so that everything can be put into practice next year starting in September and in this case the text has been written in a way that is compatible, something that prevented a provision to impose the digital age of majority at 15 years from being carried out in another law.
The French president, Emmanuel Macronhad spoken out at the end of November in favor of banning mobile phones for high school students starting next year, and in mid-December he also confirmed his intention to prevent by law access to social networks before the age of 15 or 16.
Their argument is that “before the age of 16, emotional life is not structured, the brain is not mature and minors can be destabilized if they are exposed to network content” and suffer a risk of depression, cyberbullying, sedentary lifestyle or sleep problems.
