Many Slovaks traditionally enjoy the days between Christmas and New Year in the mountains, and suitcases full of winter equipment head to popular ski resorts. The slopes are full from morning to evening, the parking lots are bursting at the seams and there are long lines for the lifts. The mountains attract families with children, groups of friends and those who want to balance the festive overeating with exercise in the fresh air – and the result is clear. Ski resorts report an onslaught that they experience only once a year.
Kristína Sisková, an actress from the marquee series The Promise, also experienced it firsthand. On Monday, December 29, shortly before 8:00 a.m., she added pictures of herself jumping for joy on the social network. “This mood (mood, editor’s note) means only one thing,” excited her followers. To help you guess what she’s up to, she added a skier emoticon.
Although she was enjoying the sunny weather in the mountains, she was annoyed by one fundamental thing. “Reality check. 40 minutes in line for the cable car. If you happen to be about to pay €70 for a ski pass, don’t do it. For the same money, you can really ski everywhere in the Alps, but this is miles away from it.” she wrote angrily to a video of people in front of the cable car in the ski resort Priehyba – Chopok in Jasná.
The slopes were crowded. “To give you an idea, it looked like this on most of the slopes today. Ice, drums, the number of visitors far beyond the center’s capacity. Not to mention that many overestimated their skiing skills,” continued Kristína Sisková. However, she found at least something positive about the unsuccessful skiing trip. “Well, at least we still have views,” she let herself be heard.
Leaving the ski resort was also extremely difficult. “And so, in the end, you waited like this at one of the stops for the ski bus (God knows how long) so that you could then stand in the line for about an hour in the direction of Jasná dole.” added the actress at the end. You can see what it looked like in the center in the video above the article and in the gallery.
40 resorts have already started the ski season. In half of the areas, the availability of tracks reaches only 30 to 50 percent – the slopes are launched gradually. Although intensive technical snowmaking continues in the resorts, the ski season is starting more slowly this year due to weather conditions. On Sunday, December 28, the situation was complicated by a strong wind – some transport equipment was shut down, and it was windy during the following days as well.
