A couple was victims of racism on Monday (29), in Belo Horizonte (MG). Eneida Aparecida Gusmão Bouças, 43, and Fabio dos Santos Bouças, 51, went to visit their son, who lives in an apartment in the building where the case occurred.
According to the report, a resident passed by the couple for the first time, looked at them hostilely and spat on the ground. A short time later, she returned to the place and said out loud the phrase: “I’m disgusted by black people.”

In the video recorded by security cameras, it is possible to hear the woman speaking to the couple.
The couple’s son, Miguel Bouças, stated that he had no previous contact with this neighbor and that the attack was sudden. According to him, the couple still waited to see the cameras and be sure of what they had heard before going to the police.
“We were just living our Christmas in peace, our New Year in peace, and now we need to do all this mobilization for one”, lamented Miguel.
After the incident, the couple sought clarification from the building administration. “Based on this information, we became aware that there are other records and reports of episodes of racism involving the same person, which indicates that this is not an isolated case, but a recurrence of racism.”
A police report was registered and according to the Civil Police, an investigation was launched to investigate the practice of racial insults. Those involved will be interviewed in the coming days at the Specialized Police Station for Investigating Crimes of Racism, Xenophobia, LGBTphobia and Related Intolerance in BH, where the investigation is ongoing.
“We will continue to seek justice and accountability, not just for ourselves, but because this type of violence cannot continue to be tolerated”, reinforced the couple.
A CNN Brazil did not locate the defense of the woman accused of the offenses.
