Sulík’s younger son Hugo took a hard line at the former minister: I have a heavy heart for this guy!

Hugo Viktor, the younger son of the former leader of the SaS party, Richard Sulík, has recently started to express himself actively on social networks about political topics. The 18-year-old decided to publicly defend his father and followed in the footsteps of his older brother Filip, who also publicly shares his views.

Unlike him, Filip, better known as Fiki, initially touched on political topics only marginally. He himself admitted in the past that he is not interested in politics. However, his opinion has recently changed and he openly said that is considering entering the political scene. With that comes great responsibility. Filip continues to create content on a platform where he shares his opinions, which only reach those who pay for it.

The younger Hugo without napkins speaks on account of his father’s former colleagues from the SaS party and outside it. This time he had something to say about ex-Minister of Defense Jaroslav Naď. “I still have a heavy heart for this guy. This person was the worst minister and he handed over all the defense we had to Ukraine. Fr (really, editor’s note) is probably the most immoral person in Slovakia,” he thinks. On Saturday, March 21, 2020, the then president Zuzana Čaputová appointed the government of Prime Minister Igor Matovič (OĽaNO). In the government of Matovič and later Eduard Heger, Naď held the post of Minister of Defense of the Slovak Republic until May 15, 2023. Since December 2023, he has been the chairman of the Democrats.

The Office for the Fight against Organized Crime (ÚBOK) announced at the end of November 2024 that it had established a special investigation team called Darca. He was supposed to deal with suspicions of illegal actions in connection with the donation of Slovak military equipment to Ukraine. He was supposed to investigate suspicions directed at the then representatives of the Ministry of Defense and members of the government, who enabled the donation of military equipment worth hundreds of millions of euros.

The donation of equipment was decided at the time when Naď was the Minister of Defense. “They donated our functional and defense equipment to a foreign country without the slightest inhibitions and any permission. Military equipment procured with our money,” declared Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok, saying that the government did not act in the interest of the Slovak Republic at that time, but in the interest of its own or “perhaps foreign” possibilities. He pointed out that during the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Slovakia remained “bare and barefoot” in terms of its defense capabilities.

The impetus for the establishment of the investigation team was the report of the Supreme Audit Office of the Slovak Republic. In its report, the Office explained that Since the outbreak of the war, the Slovak Republic has donated military property worth almost EUR 700 million to Ukraine. He also pointed to discrepancies in the data on donated property reported by the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff.

Help from Slovakia included, for example the S-300 air defense system, the Bozen demining systems, three dozen decommissioned BVP-1 infantry fighting vehicles, five transport helicopters, ammunition, fuel and, most recently, 13 MiG-29 fighters and part of the KUB anti-aircraft missile system.

Naď defended the decision to donate the equipment by saying that it was old and unused. He also spoke about the incompleteness of the SAO report. The police stopped the prosecution in November 2025, stating that the act was not a crime. The investigation into the donation of military equipment to Ukraine did not prove that there was any damage to the Slovak Republic, nor that the members of the government acted with the intention of obtaining an unauthorized benefit or exceeded their powers.
