At least seven migrants drowned in boat accident off Gambia


Banjul – At least seven migrants have died in a boat accident in the Atlantic off the coast of the West African state of Gambia. The Gambian Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday that 96 people had been rescued. The Gambia is the smallest state on the African mainland and is almost completely surrounded by Senegal. The boat, which may have had more than 200 people on board, capsized during the night. The search for further victims is ongoing.
