The minister of the Federal Supreme Court (), authorized the Bolsonaro family to visit the former president, who is imprisoned in , .
The decision was published this Friday (2), following a request from his defense so that his son Carlos could visit him next Tuesday (6).
Moraes, however, authorized “permanent visitation” for almost his entire family — a permission that includes 30-minute meetings, from 9 am to 11 am, with a limit of two people per day and separately.
The minister’s decision applies to his children Carlos, Jair Renan, Laura and senator Flávio (PL), as well as his stepdaughter, Letícia. Eduardo Bolsonaro, who currently lives in the United States, was not included. His wife, Michelle, already had this status.
The former president is imprisoned at the Superintendence of the (PF) in Brasília. He spent both Christmas and New Year’s Eve admitted to a hospital in the federal capital.
During his hospital stay — which had to be authorized by Moraes — he underwent four surgical procedures, one to treat a hernia and another three for hiccups.
He also underwent tests that revealed severe sleep apnea, for which he began using the Cpap equipment.
After three surgeries to treat hiccups, doctors concluded that he has a rare case, and that it will not be resolved with interventions, but will need constant treatment, for example, through physiotherapy.
The former president also asked his team to take anti-depression medication, which he was prescribed.
Bolsonaro’s defense again asked that, after his admission to the hospital, he be transferred to house arrest, to take care of his health. Last Thursday (1st), Moraes denied the request.
Bolsonaro was preventively arrested on November 22nd. Moraes’ decision was confirmed by the First Panel of the STF the following week.
