Goose feet cookies is a true classic of Polish cuisine that delights with its taste and delicacy. Crispy, buttery cookies with cottage cheese they are extremely light and soft, and the vanilla aroma makes them hard to resist. They go perfectly with afternoon coffee or tea. Sweet, cinnamon sprinkles give them a unique, home-made character.
To prepare this recipe, you will need:
- 200 g of semi-skimmed cottage cheese,
- 150 g of wheat flour,
- 90 g of very soft butter,
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract,
- ½ teaspoon of salt.
Ingredients for the topping:
- 3 tablespoons of butter,
- 3 tablespoons of sugar,
- ½ teaspoon of cinnamon.
Additionally:
- fine sugar for sprinkling.
Mix the cheese and butter in a mixer, then add the flour, salt and vanilla. Mix until ingredients are combined.
Place the mixture on the pastry board and knead it until a smooth ball is formed. Wrap it in cling film and put it in the fridge overnight.
Prepare the topping. Melt the butter and mix with sugar and cinnamon.
Divide the dough into 12 pieces and roll each of them into a disk with a diameter of 15-18 cm. Spread each of them thinly with the prepared butter and sugar mixture. Fold them in half and brush the tops with the mixture again. Fold in half again and press lightly to form a triangle.
Place the cookies on an oven tray lined with baking paper. Put them in the oven preheated to 190 degrees Celsius and bake for 20-25 minutes until nicely golden.
Remove the goose feet cookies from the oven and sprinkle them with fine sugar while still hot. Press it lightly to keep it in place.
Serve them after they have cooled down. Store leftovers in an airtight container and use within a week.
