Don't forget about it on January 6. You will ensure happiness and abundance

Every year on January 6 We celebrate Epiphany, specifically Epiphany. It is a Christian celebration symbolized by the story described in the Gospel according to Saint Matthew, according to which the Wise Men from the East came to Bethlehem to worship the newborn Jesus.

However, the holiday is full of not only religious but also folk traditions. There are many superstitions and beliefs related to this special day. What to do to ensure your success? What should we not do according to our ancestors so as not to bring bad luck? We give you a hint.

There are many old superstitions related to this holiday 6 January. According to one of them, we should prepare a hearty dinner for the whole family, and preparing it will ensure prosperity in the next year. There should be enough food for everyone to be satisfied. The custom is related, among other things, to the fact that the kings from the East brought gifts to baby Jesus.

Luck in finances is supposed to be ensured by placing a coin under the pillow. In turn, a gold coin or a coin with gold elements should be put in the wallet and worn for the following months, which is also supposed to bring the owner happiness and financial success.

However, the coin must be blessed in advance in the church. It is best if you can sprinkle it with holy water. If this is not possible, you should simply hold it firmly in your hand when blessing the remaining symbols of that day.

There are many ways to ward off bad luck on this special day. On Epiphany, you should light incense in the morning and walk around the house with it. You can prepare them yourself, for example from bay leaves and sage. In this way, we will drive away evil spirits and bad luck, and at the same time attract good luck and success.

It is especially worth lighting incense in the room where there is a real Christmas tree. All because in the past it was believed that needles falling from it could herald misfortune and attract negative energy to the home. Incense will drive away evil forces from the room, but it is better to clean up the fallen needles for safety the day before.

On Epiphany, Catholics participate in masses during which incense, myrrh and chalk are blessed. The chalks brought home are intended to protect household members from evil. That’s why the symbols C+M+B are written on doors.

In the past, on this day people met their loved ones and gave small gifts. Red apples and nuts were distributed to children, which was supposed to bring them good health and strong teeth.

The old tradition of the so-called “almond king” is still practiced in some homes today. An almond is placed in a Christmas bake, and the person who finds it becomes the “almond king”. In some regions, a king figurine is hidden in bread, and the finder becomes the “king of bread” and will be lucky the following year.
