Edílson Capetinha no BBB? Saiba situação financeira do ex-jogador e fortuna image

The former player Edílson Capetinha should participate in the BBB 26 Camarote groupa program that premieres on the 12th. The information was released by the Realitys Commenti profile, on the social network

At 55 years old, Edílson had spells at clubs such as Corinthians, Cruzeiro, Flamengo and Palmeiras. He accumulated important titles, including the 2002 World Cup with the Brazilian team, the most emblematic moment of his career.

Known for his irreverent style, the former striker always attracted attention on and off the field. After retiring in 2007, he briefly returned to the pitch for Bahia, in 2010, and then for Taboão da Serra, in 2016, before ending his career for good.

Outside the field, Edílson built a space in the sports media as a commentator on the programs Donos da Bola and Jogo Aberto, from Band, in addition to having participated in Dança dos Famosos, in 2013. Now, if confirmed on BBB 26, he will join the cast that mixes celebrities from Camarote, reality veterans and anonymous participants from the Pipoca group.

Edílson Capetinha: assets, money and debts

Despite the idol status achieved on the field, Edílson Capetinha’s post-retirement financial trajectory is marked by instability, legal disputes and assets surrounded by restrictions. The most recent information, revealed in August 2025 by journalist Fábia Oliveira, from the Metrópoles website, shows that the former player remains at the center of a major legal dispute, especially related to the non-payment of alimony.

Currently, Edílson is the target of an enforcement action that collects overdue amounts for the period between March 2013 and February 2020. The process, which has been going on for years, made new progress last year. The court ordered the restriction of movement and the seizure of vehicles registered in the name of the former athlete, including a Dodge and a Mercedes-Benz, in addition to the possibility of blocking properties. A detailed analysis of the files was also requested by a judicial accountant, as over time there were partial payments, which makes an accurate calculation of the total amount due necessary.

Sources interviewed by the column indicated that the pension debt, related to the daughter who was still a minor, already exceeded R$2 million. The exact definition of this amount will be decisive for the Judiciary to establish the scope of the seizures on Capetinha’s assets. In previous decisions, television stations even requested that any former player’s salaries be garnished, but the requests were not responded to.

This scenario adds to a troubled financial history. Reports published in 2019 indicated that Edílson had assets valued at around R$56 million, mostly made up of properties located in Salvador, Bahia. Houses, apartments and land were blocked by the courts due to labor and alimony debts. In practice, it was a significant estate on paper, but with low liquidity and severely limited by court decisions.

Over the last decade, Edílson was also the target of arrest warrants for late payment of child support. There are records of arrests and court orders in 2014, 2026 and 2017, including an episode in Brasília, when the debt exceeded R$430,000, related to repeated non-compliance with obligations to one of the children.

In addition to financial issues, the former player had his name involved in another off-field episode. In 2015, he was mentioned in Operation Desventura, a Federal Police investigation into lottery prize fraud, which involved suspicious judicial decisions and the withdrawal of amounts using counterfeit tickets. Edílson has always denied any participation in the scheme and, in 2019, he claimed to have been acquitted by the courts.

In the professional field, the lack of stability has also marked recent years. Hired by Band in 2019 as a commentator, Edílson did not have his contract renewed at the end of 2021. He then went to RedeTV!, where he only remained between 2022 and 2023. Currently, without a fixed contract with TV stations, he seeks alternative income by participating in events and lectures, acting as a brand ambassador, digital influencer and heading his own company, ED Dez Eventos.
