Grok says protection flaws led to images of “minors in minimal clothing” on X

Grok, an artificial intelligence chatbot from Elon Musk’s company xAI, reported on Friday that lapses in protections had resulted in ‘images depicting minors in skimpy clothing’ on social media platform X and that improvements were being made to prevent this.

Screenshots shared by users on X showed Grok’s public media tab filled with images that users said were altered when they uploaded photos and asked the bot to edit them.

“There are isolated cases where users have ‌requested and received AI images depicting minors in skimpy clothing,” Grok said in a post on X. “xAI has safeguards in place, but improvements are underway to fully block these requests.”

‘As noted, we have identified gaps in protections and are urgently correcting them — CSAM is illegal and prohibited,’ Grok said, referring to child sexual abuse material.

Grok did not provide any further details.
