Kiev has ordered the evacuation of thousands of children and their parents from frontline villages in the Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk regions where Russian troops are advancing, a Ukrainian official said on Friday. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.

“Due to the difficult security situation, a decision was made to forcibly evacuate more than 3,000 children and their parents from 44 frontline villages in the Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk regions,” Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba said on the Telegram platform. According to him, evacuations are also taking place in the Chernihiv region, which borders Belarus.

The number of evacuees is increasing

“A total of 150,000 people have been evacuated from frontline areas since June 1. Among them are nearly 18,000 children and more than 5,000 people with reduced mobility,” Kuleba said.

Russia, which launched its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, is gradually advancing through the industrial Dnepropetrovsk region. In the Zaporizhia region, its progress was rarer, but in recent months it has accelerated. Russia claimed to have occupied new villages in both areas, writes AFP.
