Retired Air Force colonel Ricardo Wagner Roquetti, dismissed from a position in the Ministry of Education at the beginning of the (PL) government, was responsible for reporting to the minister () the former advisor’s failure to comply with the precautionary measure.
at his home, in Ponta Grossa (PR), following orders from Moraes, and taken to a city jail.
On December 29, Roquetti sent an email to Moraes’ office informing him that Martins had consulted his LinkeDin profile the day before. Bolsonaro’s former advisor was at that time under house arrest and prevented from using social media.
“I have no relationship with the said individual and there was no interaction that would justify such a visit,” said the complainant.
“I understand that the incident described may indicate possible non-compliance with a court order, which justifies immediate communication to the competent body,” added Roquetti, who asked that his identity be preserved by the minister.
As a result, Moraes ordered Martins’ preventive detention, after asking his defense for explanations. Jair Bolsonaro’s former advisor was one of those convicted of the coup plot, but is not yet serving a sentence for this fact, as defense resources have not been exhausted.
Roquetti has a history of friction with Bolsonarists from a MEC board, under the management of then minister Ricardo Vélez Rodrigues.
His dismissal and that of other soldiers occurred after pressure from the philosopher Olavo de Carvalho (died in 2022), who considered the department his area of influence. Since then, the colonel has made attacks and denunciations against Olavistas – Martins is a follower of the philosopher.
When contacted by the Panel, the retired colonel declined to comment.
