Roberto Carlos has satisfactory evolution after surgery – 01/01/2026 – Sport

Hospitalized since the 29th at the Vila Nova Star hospital, in São Paulo, former left-back Roberto Carlos, 52, is “clinically stable and asymptomatic”, according to a medical bulletin released this Thursday (1) by the medical institution.

The former player is under medical care after undergoing routine tests that found a coronary obstruction. An MRI was then carried out which would have shown that “a very high percentage of his heart was not working”.

“The patient is progressing satisfactorily, he is clinically stable, asymptomatic, in the postoperative period, under observation in an ICU bed, in accordance with the institution’s care protocol”, informed the bulletin.

On the 31st, via social media, the former full-back confirmed his hospitalization, but denied that he had suffered a heart attack.

Roberto Carlos retired from football in 2012 before a brief return in 2015 in the Indian league. He had already faced health problems this year and had to postpone a promotional visit to Nepal in April because of a “sudden illness”.

He currently lives in Spain and is in Brazil to enjoy holidays.
