Driving on Portuguese motorways has become more expensive from today onwards, with the annual update and consequent increase in toll prices to reflect inflation and the mechanisms provided for in the concession contracts. The average increase is 2.3%, although the final impact varies depending on the route and vehicle class.
The price update applies to practically the entire concession network and results from contractual formulas that index tolls to the evolution of inflation. For many drivers, the difference may seem small on short journeys, but it becomes more evident on long and frequent journeys, according to the portal specializing mainly in Pplware technology.
Overall, concessionaires applied an average increase of around 2.3%. However, this value is not uniform. Some motorways register slightly lower increases, while on others the increase is more significant, especially on longer routes.
The final amount paid also depends on the class of the vehicle, with Class 1 cars being the most affected in absolute terms, as they are the most used.
Main increases in the most used routes
Among the highways with the highest daily traffic, there are climbs that, in some cases, exceed 40 cents for light vehicles. On the A1, which connects Lisbon to Porto, the total toll value increases by around 45 cents, reaching around 25.05 euros for the entire route.
On the A2, the main connection between Lisbon and the Algarve, the worsening is even more visible, with an increase of close to 50 cents. The full trip now costs around 23.80 euros, according to the same source.
On the A2/A6 axis, between Marateca and Caia, the crossing is approximately 35 cents more expensive than in 2025, reaching a value close to 15.40 euros.

According to Pplware, although the increases are within the contractually foreseen values, the new toll price represents another burden for those who use the highways regularly, whether for professional or personal trips.
