Brazilian left-wing politicians condemned this Saturday (3) the .

The president stated that he and his wife were captured and taken out of the Caribbean country, but there is still no official information on the Venezuelan dictator’s whereabouts.

In publications on social media, Brazilian parliamentarians stated that the offensive violates international rights and expressed solidarity with the country’s civilian population.

“Imperialism exports war and destruction, from Palestine to Palestine. The attack deserves repudiation and swift condemnation. It is an attack that violates all the rules of international law”, stated federal deputy Paulo Pimenta (PT-RS), former minister of the government’s Social Communication Secretariat.

Federal deputy Maria do Rosário (PT-RS) also defended the sovereignty of South America.

“The Trump administration’s escalation of war reaches our continent in search of regional political control and oil—Venezuela holds around 17% of global reserves. South America must unite for justice, peace and the principle of non-intervention,” he wrote.

The PT Bench in the Chamber of Deputies also repudiated the United States’ attacks on Venezuela. “Respect for independence, self-determination of peoples and non-intervention are basic precepts of sovereignty for all nations.”

Talíria Petrone, PSOL leader in the Chamber, classified the attack as “unacceptable”. “Trump has already made it clear: he wants the country’s oil reserves, he has no interest in deepening democracy in that country, nor in combating drug trafficking,” he further stated.

Federal deputy Glauber Braga (PSOL-RJ) demanded a demonstration from President Lula.

“This is state terrorism to control oil reserves. It is essential that the entire international community condemn this as a very serious and unprecedented crime. President Lula’s statement in this regard is essential and urgent,” he wrote.

Federal deputy Orlando Silva (PC do B) called it “absurd and illegal US military aggression against Venezuela.” He also said that “Trump tears up international law to steal oil and impose regimes in Latin America.”

Venezuela stated that it suffered a “military aggression” after multiple explosions hit the capital, Caracas, and other regions of the country during the early hours of the morning. Faced with the situation, the country declared a state of emergency.

According to a statement from the Venezuelan regime, attacks also occurred in the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira, which led to a national state of emergency and the mobilization of defense forces.
