Edmundo González speaks of "decisive hours" in Venezuela after Maduro's capture by the United States

The opposition argues that González Urrutia should immediately assume the presidency, while the Venezuelan government denounced the military aggression and declared a state of emergency.

“Venezuelan, these are decisive hours, know that we are ready for the great reconstruction operation of our nation,” said González Urrutia in a message on the X social network.

Shortly before, the opposition leader and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, Maria Corina Machado, had defended, in a statement, that González Urrutia should assume the presidency immediately.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that this Saturday he had “successfully carried out a large-scale attack against Venezuela” and had captured the Venezuelan leader, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife.

Trump confirmed the attack just hours after explosions and military aircraft overflights were reported in Caracas and other areas of the country and assured that Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, are being held on the amphibious ship “USS Iwo Jima” and on their way to New York, to be tried for drug trafficking.

The Venezuelan Government denounced the “very serious military aggression” by the United States and declared a state of emergency.
