It was just a matter of time! After “Diana – A Princesa do Povo” had its premiere confirmed in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo entered the route. What tells the story of the woman who belonged to the British Royal Family and died at the age of 36 promises to be emotional. The production, originally from Broadway, will premiere at “Cidade Maravilhosa” in February, and at “Terra da Garoa” in May.
The main role of the show will be played by , 45 years old. With a career marked by successful musicals, such as “Addams Family”, “Shrek”, “The Wizard of Oz”, “Cats” and “The Phantom of the Opera”, the Brazilian native has always admired Lady Di. In a recent interview with LeoDias portalthe actress said that her appreciation for the princess goes beyond the public figure she has become.

“Even coming from a context of great privilege, she chose to use her visibility to get closer to the most vulnerable people. I had already watched some documentaries, series and biographies, but, for the musical, I delved into deeper research. I sought to understand not only her historical trajectory, but also the way in which she broke barriers by reaching out to those who were invisible. This perspective is very current and also speaks to the Brazilian reality, where we continue to face enormous inequalities that require empathy, closeness and human commitment”, reflected Sara about the British woman.
“Diana – A Princesa do Povo” will be on the stage at Teatro Liberdade from May 14, 2026 and tickets can now be purchased. The Brazilian version and the direction of the show are by Tadeu Aguiar.
Lady Di, as she was known worldwide, it is worth remembering, died prematurely in a car accident in 1997. The tragedy occurred in Paris, France, when the vehicle she was in lost control while being chased by paparazzi.
