Musclecontest, the largest promoter of Brazilian bodybuilding events, announced at the end of last year that the 2026 season will feature four championships aimed at natural athletes, that is, those who do not use anabolic steroids (AEs) or other prohibited medications.
To date, the calendar of the NPC (National Physique Committee) –amateur league that gives access to the IFBB (International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness)– in Brazil highlights two of these events. While the Musclecontest Rio de Janeiro Naturals will take place on April 18th, the Musclecontest São Paulo Naturals will take place on May 16th.
The other two championships, which do not yet have their dates available, should be held in the second half of this year.
Another point that has not yet been confirmed by the promoter is anti-doping methods. Generally, bodybuilding federations focused on the natural portion of the sport use urine and polygraph tests.
Recently, natural bodybuilding has been growing in the country. This is due to the greater production of content by these athletes, the increased competitive level of these championships and the population’s awareness of the possible risks of using AEs without a medical prescription.
